Today, the European Parliament rejected the request to waive the parliamentary immunity of Daniel Attard, after its parliamentary committee concluded that the request was unfounded and based on mistaken identity.
The report states:
“Whereas the allegations first communicated in the reply of 18 September 2025 turned out to be based on mistaken identity, as revealed in the letter of 5 March 2026, which further exacerbated the serious doubts surrounding the line of argument underlying the initial request.”
Over the past thirteen months, several representatives of the Nationalist Party worked tirelessly, through Nationalist media outlets and English language newspapers, to condemn Daniel Attard before the facts were even known.
For months, these individuals portrayed Daniel Attard as guilty. This is the politics of those who are prepared to tarnish Malta’s reputation and that of its representatives for political gain.
Today, the European Parliament delivered justice to the Labour MEP and confirmed one thing clearly: Daniel Attard has no case to answer.

Għal xhur sħaħ, dawn in-nies ippreżentaw lil Daniel Attard bħala ħati. Din hija l-politika ta’ min lest iħammeġ ir-reputazzjoni ta’ Malta u tar-rappreżentanti tagħha, basta jieħu vantaġġ politiku.
