L-Ewroparlamentari Daniel Attard ġie magħżul bħala finalist fl-MEP Awards 2026 fil-kategorija ‘Sustainable Tourism Award’, li tirrikonoxxi l-ħidma ta’ Membri Parlamentari Ewropej li jippromwovu turiżmu aktar responsabbli, inklużiv u preparat għall-isfidi tal-futur madwar l-Ewropa.
In-nominazzjoni ssegwi x-xogħol estensiv li Attard mexxa matul l-aħħar sena bħala n-Negozjatur Ewlieni tal-Parlament Ewropew dwar il-futur tat-turiżmu fl-Ewropa – rapport li ġie approvat b’appoġġ qawwi u li se jifforma l-bażi tal-ewwel Strateġija Ewropea għat-Turiżmu Sostenibbli.
“Kburi li ġejt magħżul bħala finalist f’dawn il-premjijiet prestiġjużi. Dan huwa rikonoxximent mhux biss tal-ħidma tiegħi, iżda wkoll tal-importanza li Malta tagħti lis-settur turistiku u tal-kontribut li pajjiżna jista’ jagħti fid-diskussjoni Ewropea dwar il-futur tat-turiżmu,” sostna Attard.
Matul il-ħidma tiegħu, Attard ħadem favur politika turistika Ewropea li tpoġġi fil-qalba tagħha t-tisħiħ tal-konnettività għall-gżejjer u r-reġjuni periferiċi, il-protezzjoni tal-identità kulturali, l-investiment fil-ħaddiema, is-sostenibbiltà ambjentali u bilanċ aħjar bejn it-turiżmu u l-kwalità tal-ħajja tal-komunitajiet lokali. Din il-viżjoni wasslet biex ix-xogħol tiegħu f’dan il-qasam jiġi rikonoxxut permezz ta’ din in-nominazzjoni.
Din in-nomina ssegwi dik tas-sena l-oħra meta Daniel Attard kien nominat fost l-aqwa Deputati ġodda fil-Parlament Ewropew.
Daniel Attard Selected as a Finalist Among Europe’s Top MEPs in 2026
MEP Daniel Attard has been selected as a finalist in the 2026 MEP Awards under the Sustainable Tourism Award category, which recognises Members of the European Parliament who are advancing a more responsible, inclusive and future focused tourism sector across Europe.
The nomination follows Attard’s extensive work over the past year as the European Parliament’s lead negotiator on the future of tourism in Europe. The report he spearheaded secured strong backing in Parliament and is set to serve as the foundation for Europe’s first Sustainable Tourism Strategy.
“I am honoured to have been selected as a finalist for these prestigious awards. This recognition reflects not only my own work, but also the importance Malta places on the tourism sector and the valuable contribution our country can make to shaping the European debate on the future of tourism,” said Attard.
Throughout his mandate, Attard has championed a European tourism policy centred on stronger connectivity for islands and peripheral regions, the protection of cultural identity, investment in people and skills, environmental sustainability, and a better balance between tourism growth and the quality of life of local communities. This vision has helped place sustainable tourism higher on the European agenda and has now been recognised through this nomination.
The nomination follows Attard’s recognition at last year’s MEP Awards, where he was shortlisted among the European Parliament’s best newcomers.
