Il-Parlament Ewropew Japprova Riżoluzzjoni tal-MPE Daniel Attard dwar ir-Repressjoni Sistemika tan-Nisa fl-Iran

Il-Parlament Ewropew illum approva riżoluzzjoni ffirmata mill-Ewroparlamentari Laburista Daniel Attard flimkien ma’ Deputati minn gruppi politiċi oħra, li tikkundanna r-repressjoni sistemika tan-nisa fl-Iran.

Ir-riżoluzzjoni fost oħrajn titlob aċċess għall-investigaturi tal-Ġnus Magħquda, azzjoni immedjata għall-ġustizzja mal-vittmi u waqfien mill-oppressjoni u l-intimidazzjoni.

F’diskors fil-plenarja, Daniel Attard qal li “meta nisa fl-Iran jirrifjutaw li jobdu liġijiet li jneżżgħuhom mid-dinjità, ir-reġim isejħilhom perikolużi jew instabbli. Imma l-problema mhix in-nisa li jirreżistu, imma s-sistema li tikkastigahom għax ma jbaxxux rashom.”

Attard insista li din mhijiex biss kwistjoni Iranjana, imma sfida għall-valuri universali. “L-indifferenza hija kompliċità. Ma nistgħux inwettqu kompromessi fuq id-drittijiet tal-bniedem. L-UE trid tmur lil hinn mid-dikjarazzjonijiet, issaħħaħ il-mekkaniżmi ta’ responsabbiltà, u tieħu pożizzjoni ċara favur il-ħajja, il-libertà, u l-ugwaljanza”.

Bħala Viċi President tad-Delegazzjoni tal-Parlament Ewropew għall-Iran, Attard ġedded l-impenn tiegħu li jkun vuċi b’saħħitha fil-ġlieda kontra l-ksur tad-drittijiet tal-bniedem fil-pajjiż u lil hinn.

European Parliament Approves Resolution by MEP Daniel Attard on the Systematic Repression of Women in Iran

The European Parliament today approved a resolution spearheaded by Labour MEP Daniel Attard, alongside members from other political groups, condemning the systematic repression of women in Iran.

The resolution calls for unrestricted access for UN investigators, immediate action to deliver justice for victims, and an end to oppression and intimidation.

Speaking during the plenary debate, Daniel Attard stated, “When women in Iran refuse to comply with laws that strip them of their dignity, the regime labels them as dangerous or unstable. But the problem is not the women who resist—it is the system that punishes them for refusing to bow their heads.”

Attard emphasized that this is not merely an Iranian issue but a challenge to universal values. “Indifference is complicity. We cannot compromise on human rights. The EU must go beyond statements, strengthen accountability mechanisms, and take a clear stand for life, freedom, and equality,” he asserted.

As Vice President of the European Parliament Delegation to Iran, Attard reaffirmed his commitment to being a strong voice in the fight against human rights abuses, both within the country and beyond.
