Dalgħodu qed nattendi għal-laqgħa regolari tas-Soċjalisti li qed titratta l-aħħar żviluppi politiċi fl-Ewropa u l-avvanzi tal-lemin estrem.
Inutli nippontaw is-swaba, għax insibu erbgħa oħra jippontaw lejna. Sta għalina s-soċjalisti, progressivi u moderati, li nilħqu l-aspirazzjonijiet tan-nies, noffru s-soluzzjonijiet għall-isfidi preżenti u tama għall-ġenerazzjonijiet futuri.
Dan il-Parlament għandu r-riżorsi kollha biex jagħmel differenza. Biex jagħmel impatt pożittiv, kif għamel f’diversi drabi.
Akkomodazzjoni affordabbli. Ambjent aħjar. Ugwaljanza sħiħa għal kulħadd u f’kull aspett, inkluż bejn il-Membri Stati. Xogħol diċenti u gwerra fuq il-prekarjat. Liġijiet li jinċentivaw, mhux joħonqu l-investiment u l-innovazzjoni. Rispett lejn id-diversità li tgħaqqadna, mhux a spejjeż tas-sovranità u l-identità li tiddistingwina. Le għall-one-size-fits-all.
Ħolqa ħolqa, imma parti mill-istess katina tal-progress ekonomiku u soċjali li faċli ddur f’ċirku vizzjuż ta’ rigress fil-benesseri tal-familji tagħna.
Ir-riċetta rebbieħa nafuha. Fiċ-ċokon tiegħi, jien se nagħmel il-biċċa żgħira tiegħi. Kuljum u f’kull waqt ta’ dan il-mandat li l-poplu Malti fdani bih.
Work within the committees and respective political groups in the European Parliament is well underway.
This morning, I’m attending the S&D meeting, focusing on the latest political developments in Europe and the rise of the far right.
It’s pointless to assign responsibility. It is our responsibility as progressive socialists to uphold people’s hopes for the future, address their problems, and realise their goals.
As it has done numerous times before, this Parliament is fully equipped to effect change and have a beneficial influence.
Affordable housing. A better environment. Equality for all and in all aspects. Decent work and a determined effort against precarious employment. Laws that encourage, not stifle investment and innovation. Embracing unity in diversity, without compromising the sovereignty and identity that define us. No to a one-size-fits-all.
It’s up to us to create a strong chain of economic and social progress that overcomes the vicious circle of regression, threatening the well-being of our families.
I will do my humble part—in every decision throughout this mandate—determined to repay the trust vested in me by our people.
