Genocide is still unfolding before our very eyes

Today, genocide is still unfolding before our very eyes. Genocide in our time.

The atrocities of the Second World War are being repeated today — ironically by the Israeli Government, which continues to commit crimes against humanity. Every passing day means more children killed, more families destroyed, more dreams buried beneath the rubble.

But let’s be clear: it is not only Netanyahu who has blood on his hands. We, in Europe, are complicit. Every time we remain silent. Every time words of condemnation stay on paper or on social media, and never turn into action. Every time political and commercial interests are placed above human life.

Can we stop this? Yes. Can we end the sale of arms? Yes. Can we impose sanctions? Yes, we can. But we don’t — because comfort and political calculations have become more important than human life.

While our children rejoice at the fireworks of our village feasts, in Gaza those same sounds bring fear and terror, with children screaming and running for their lives.

This is the reality. And if we remain passive, then we are all responsible.
