Dr. Daniel Attard was born in Malta on April 18, 1992. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 2014, followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Notary Public in 2015. In 2017, he earned a Doctorate in Law (LL.D.) from the University of Malta, subsequently being admitted to the bar in 2018.
Dr. Attard embarked on his political career in 2013 when he was elected Mayor of Mtarfa at the age of 20, distinguishing himself as the youngest mayor in Malta. He was re-elected in 2019 with an increased majority, reflecting his growing influence and leadership.
During his tenure as mayor, Dr. Attard championed numerous significant initiatives, with a strong emphasis on education, environmental sustainability, cultural heritage preservation, and infrastructure development.
His diplomatic career commenced with a role as a political officer at the Permanent Mission of Malta to the United Nations in Geneva, where he oversaw matters related to the International Labour Organisation during Malta’s presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Following his assignment in Geneva, Dr. Attard served at the Permanent Representation of Malta to the European Union. He further broadened his political and diplomatic expertise by serving as a Government Spokesperson for European Affairs and Equality, as well as a Foreign and European Spokesperson.
More recently, Dr. Attard held the position of Malta’s Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and served as Chargé d’Affaires for six months.
In June 2024, Dr. Attard successfully contested the European Parliament elections with the Labour Party, securing a seat as a Member of the European Parliament within the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.
